Ellen's Australian Adventure: Tasmania

I flew into Launceston, Tasmania Wednesday afternoon January 26th and Dirk Flinthart met me at the airport with his sons Perran and Tellayn. Natalie, Dirkšs wife, was on the mainland for a conference (shešs a country doctor near where they live) for a day or two so things were a bit hectic back at the household. They have a house that they're expanding and 50 acres. And lots of Huntsman spiders, of which I did not take photos.

The weather was unusually warm for Tassie the first two days I was there. It was too hot to go blueberry picking on Thursday as we had planned, so we went trout fishing in a river instead. Got not a bite all the way up the river, so after two hours we went to the trout farm and fished there. I caught two nice trout and Dirk caught one. He cooked them for dinner. Ellen

We went to a street market and I bought lots of stuff and Dirk bought a bunch of stuff, too, although not as much as I). On the way back to the car we passed a bunch of walls that were obviously the only things left of an old graveyard in downtown Hobart.

Friday we went blueberry picking. It was hot, but not as hot as Thursday. Saturday Dirk and went to Hobart for the day to meet Tansy Roberts, her husband, Andrew Finch, and their new baby.

I left Monday January 31st for Sydney, where I had a stopover in the airport and had drinks with Bill Congreve, his partner Michelle Marquardt, and Terry Dowling.
